Grill repair....

While pulling out the grill the other day daddy Dave noticed that the metal coverings which cover the burners had all but disintegrated (rust). This was the only one left and barely hanging on.

Daddy Dave went to his scrap pile and picked out a piece of formable metal, cut the right length and creased down the center. After a quick coat of high temp black spray paint the fix was done, good as new.

Wagon trail........

Well Malia got this pretty spiffy tent like structure for her bed for her birthday, of course the bunk beds just seemed to be lacking something.

First a shallow hole was drilled with a spade bit....on one of the supports.

Another was done on the opposite side but this one had some chisel work done also...

Than daddy Dave installed a wooden dowel (old curtain rod) into the slots...

Next he grabbed some old curtians and slide them on the dowel ......now Ella has her own fort. Momma has sence altered the curtians for a truly more costum look.

Drip drop....

Here Ella poses with the old faucet ......I think she might want her water bottle refilled...

And here Malia test out the new/used faucet, I think she was telling me the water was starting to get hot....

Official birthday girl......

Today is officially Malia's birthday but her party was this past weekend, here she is enjoying some eats

Here is one of her gifts, too big to really wrap....so daddy Dave threw an old sheet over it.

Safety first, after she buckles on her helmet she takes it for a spin, happy birthday my sweet baby girl, and may the years not roll by so fast.

Laundry room cubbies......

Daddy Dave needed to put together some storage boxes for the new cubbyholes which are in the laundry room. Daddy Dave could have just bought baskets but this was not a very cost efficient option, So he made his own. First he took some left over cabinet scraps(kitchen Reno)......

Cut them down to the correct size.......also cut the appropriate sides, bottoms, and backs needed to build four boxes.

And put them together.........

Now a fresh coat of paint and they'll be done, maybe a layer of felt on the bottoms also.

Here they are in position, but not yet painted, daddy Dave would have liked to use the upper part of the cabinets (arch) but opted for a uniform look.

Weather...

With the nice weather we've been having it allows the girls a chance to get outside and play, here Malia and Ella enjoy the sun accompanied with a loli pop ...and climb about on the fallen trees. Of course the loli pop had to be finished before playing could resume, but they didn't seem to mind.

The the girls show off one of their creations, they love to gather daddy Dave's scraps and build houses etc out of them. Malia is also at a point in her life where she likes to play with her hair, this often makes hair combing a challange. She twirls it, often causing it to knot .

Trailer project....

With the lawn season is fast approaching daddy Dave has some modifications he wants to do to his landscape trailer. Here you can see the front cage is just sitting on legs not attached to the trailer, daddy Dave wants to lift it up and attach it to the trailer but be able to remove it if he ever wanted to.

I had some assistance from dad, his welding and knowledge was needed to aid in this transformation .

Here one of the brackets is welded into place....

With both brackets secured it was time to start constructing a new side gate.........the part of the project is still under construction being the sun set for the night.........to be continued.

Here's a pic of the cage sitting in place, next it needs to be bolted into place this way I can remove it if I need to put something larger on the trailer.

Timber.....

Well that old pine tree finally came down.......during the past wind storm.

It opted for a soft landing on daddy Dave's enclosed trailer.......

During the same storm, another one of our problem trees decided take a tumble.......on top of mom mandys van.......

Here is some of the after math the tree just missed the house and only the branches smacked the back of the van, how ever it left some damage and ripped off the wiper arm......

When the tree came down it also tried to slow its fall down by grabbing on too the power line.......which of course wasn't strong enough. It ripped the power line down on top of daddy Dave's truck sending sparks everywhere(he was in the truck at the time). The power surge blew up the security system, the dryer, a power circuit in the garage, the garage door opener, the fridge, the rest is still being determined. The entire house smelled of Burnt electrical wires........good times now on to the clean up.

Laundry con....

Now that the first coat of paint was on the walls/brick, it was time to finish installing the cabniets. This set of cabniets needed to have an additional bracket built on the back so that the cabinets would line up with each other.

Here the cabinets are now secured..

Now the washer and dryer are back in their new spots, next up is to reinstall the sink.......along with some other things.

Storm door......

While working on the laundry room project, the side entree door needed to have a little protection from the weather.

While shopping at Dave Dave's local fav place (habitat) he picked up a used storm door at 1/10th of the new price. Although the door didn't have any of the hanging hardware this didn't deter daddy Dave. You see daddy Dave doesn't throw away anything he thinks may come in handy in the future(he a self proclaimed mid-grade hoarder) and he just happened to have some leftover brackets from a job he had done on a property.

And here we have the newly installed storm door now just in need of a wipe down.

The new storm door allows even more light and air flow in.

Cabinet placement ........

As daddy Dave well knows just because He got a deal on some cabinets that's doesn't mean their gonna fit, some time modifications may be needed to be made for them to work in the intended application. While picking cabinets for the laundry room maximizing space was of concern, we wanted to maximize storage but still be able to move. We chose too use only upper cabniets because they are not as deep allowing for more open sq footage and we weren't concerned with counter top space. Daddy Dave lucked across these extra tall cabinets which should do the trick. First a base was added to lift the cabinets off the floor.

Than another support was built on top to aid when stacking the cabniets......

Than the cabinets were stacked and secured......

Next an additional upper cabinet was added and secured, we could not have an additional lower cabinet because the dry door would need room to open....

On to the other side of the room, another upper was hung, in this pic you can see the unsafe, unprofessional, in practical way in which the cabinets were hosted into place. When your installing cabinets alone you have to improvise. This did work well I just had to make sure the girls were well out of the way.

With the last two remaining cabinets were not a perfect match, one was wider than the other but a side extension was added, that wasn't gonna stop daddy Dave. These cabinets had to be a bit higher than the others being the washer lid needed to clear the cabinets when opened. So again a base was built to bring it to the needed height

Than as the others a top bracket was built to aid in the stacking process.......

Finally they were slid into place.......one of the uppers in this section has an opening section as if to display something. These cabinets tucked in nicely, even with the chimney.

To finish off the cabinets new trim will be added to the top and bottom for a truly costum look as well as a coat of paint most likely. Momma mandys storage space is about to triple.
