 its a bird its a plane nope its Barkley and his fetching antics. while grilling the other evening i tossed his beloved tennis ball into the back of my truck. what was he to do, the tailgate was up but did that stop him? nope, he still jumped into the back to retrieve his precious little ball. this was quiet a jump and was a close call, but have no fear, fetching Barkley's here. scroll down slowly for flip book effect

 he about fixed himself, but no price to steep for such a dedicated dog. close call good thing there's no access  handle on the outside.

gillin with a side of chillin..............

here's a couple pics with descriptions of our din on the grill, which my lovely wife threw together out of some stuff on hand. take a couple boneless skinless chicken breast, butterfly open, insert artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomato, and fire roasted red peppers. add mozzarella cheese, and seasonings to taste(red pepper flakes, salt, pepper). close and tie off with cooking string, baste with olive oil and choice of seasonings.

then a key and crucial item- wrap with bacon and secure with tooth picks. place on grill. go ahead and start the side of chillin, so that it will be ready when the chicken is done. internal cook temp of 185 should do the trick.

here is a pick of the aftermath, with a side of cauliflower smothered in shred cheddar and a side of corn on the cob.  the corn was cooked in its skin and hair, then peeled. cruel but the usual punishment. doesn't sound to appetizing but it was. just be sure to remove string/toothpicks before devouring(can be hazards to your health if not removed before consumption). enlarge pic if you want your taste buds to water.

unfinished project klr............

 here is my trusty ol 650 klr this is an endro, an on/off road motorcycle, but i have and next to no ride time on it. well with the weather so nice its time to finish her up and get her on the trails. i also have a smaller Honda 80xr which is at a friends house back in the town of birth. my intent is to take this down to my parents homestead so that my baby sis(not a baby any more) can ride and enjoy, the 80xr that is. so what does this bike need to get going? well it seems the inside of the tank has corroded and the rust is clogging the fuel filter. solution- while cruising online a couple of years back i saw a neat product that will seal and coat the inside of the tank preventing further rust, i did order and its been sitting in the garage. first step is to remove and drain gas tank, the above pic shows this step done.

 KBS Coatings is the name of the product, it is a three step process, which should solve my problem. so I'm gonna put it to the test, if intrigued look it up on line it looks like one hell of a product. stay tuned

big girl cup........

here is a video of Malia, she is learning how to drink from a cup. that's right, shes trying to skip the sipper cup and go straight for the big girl cup. she does pretty well.......just remember...... not to cry over spilled milk(i know it is getting pricey).

clear it out.........

on the side of the rental house a pile of overgrown debris had at one time accumulated. it looked as it some of the contents was a tree, yard debris, rat, lizards and who knows what i didn't see( did see rat, and man it was a big one but it did look more like a gerbil, cute and cuddly).

here the pile is now gone, nothing sir stihl(chainsaw), and a little weed eating couldn't take care of. you can still see the mound were the stump once was but that too will soon be smoothed out.

porch smorch..........

 still finishing up at the rental, the new tenants are gonna get the keys fri 30th i believe. while at the rental i kept looking at the porch decking it was badly weathered and in need of a fresh coat of paint.

so the weather was permitting so i slapped a on a fresh coat of paint and lightly dusted with sand for traction, among other bits and pieces .

in a bit of a sticky situation..........

 this is a quick pic of malia helping out at the rental. while dad was pulling up the tape along the flooring he needed somthing to stick it to. malia volanteered, in this pic shes all taped up(tape on both feet, hands and head but she was a good sport).

drip, drop, a leak at the rental spot..............

which would you say is more likely to cause a leak in your home, a bowl, cup or dish?  if you said a bowl- not in this case but you could use it to help catch the leaking water........... cup- no not in this case either but you could also use it to drink a delicious beverage while you watch the bowl catch the drip........if you guessed dish you would be right, in the case a improperly installed dish network TV dish(satellite dish). the rental had two installed on the roof. the other evening while showing the house to the now lease signed tenants. the father pointed at the ceiling at a water mark and asked in broken English if there was a leak, and to my knowledge i answered no, just needed a little paint. well while out at the rental Friday, finishing up a couple last min cleaning and paint, inside out of the rain, i looked at the spot only to see water drips forming. under closer inspection i found the above pic(leaky roof) in the attic. this was caused by just screwing the satellite dish directly to the roof. as soon as the weather permits, up on to the roof ill go with a bucket of roof tar and a smile. at least it should be a easy fix, knock on wood. best to catch it now than to have it leak on the new tenants.

while making lunch they other day Malia was hungry so while i prepared some tuna sandwiches i gave her a couple crushed up Doritos.  needless to say she loved them but she did  save room for the main course.

can i get a do over...........

while i was hard  at work the other day...... i was working with my back turned away from a costumer. out of the corner of my eye i noticed that he (an older gent) was having trouble getting a rather large head of cabbage into one of the produce bags. after some time, he still had not gotten the cabbage into the bag. being the friendly costumer service expert that i am i turned and asked him politely if i could give him a hand.........as i took the cabbage from him i noticed the was missing his right hand down to the wrist..............can i get a do over?










while i was hard at work the other day........ i was doing some clean-up in the back, my shift was about to come to a end. a nice mid aged black lady caught my attention and inquired about the okra which was on the shelf. she stated that the okra was in poor shape in fact it looked like her, not thinking of the comment i walked out onto the sales floor, as i looked the okra over i said yep your right it is pretty dark..........can i get a do over?







while i was hard at work the other day......... i was working the apple section which often causes me to work with  my back turned towards costumers. i hear a higher, more feminine voice behind me say,"excuse me sir can you tell me where the bagged potatoes are?", speaking while i turn i say yes ma'am, they are on the other side of the onions motioning with my hands.... i then notice that the costumer is obviously a man........can i get a do over?

more house shopping fun........

 again we were of on another home hunting adventure......... so here is a few pics that will make ya say hmmmmmm. the first pic is nothing drastic but it is a bit unusual. it is the dryer vent coming out of the floor on the front of the house, you can see the lent build up reminds me of my bellybutton.

this is a pic of someones tile job, ill go out on a limb and say i don't think they were professionals. maybe they should have spent an extra buck and got some spacers! there's nothing right about this tile job, to bad they went through 90% of the house.

this bathroom has potential but someone had bad taste/idea. the garden tub has a fake brick paneling around the tub enclosing it in, at least they didn't try and tile it. i do like the skylight though, you can get a little sun while you soak. and so the house hunting continues........

egg salad head.........

 here is a pic of Malia studying a new dish of egg salad, of which her father prepared for her. hmmmmm what is this?

in this pic shes feeding herself the delicious dish, she dint eat much perhaps she had a bad experience in the past with boiled eggs(deviled eggs perhaps). but dad finished it off and Barkley did the dishes.

attack of the killer inch worms.............

 run..... run for your life....they will stop at nothing....... they will eat anything in their path.......Barkley get out of the way!!!! at our home on lenmore we have came under attack, we have an infestation of inch worms they are every where. if you zoom in on the above pick you can see hundreds if not thousands crawling up the side of garage, and Barkley's dog house. they are hanging  from everything, dogeing  worms has became a daily practice. when we come in from outside we have two or three hanging off our clothing, we haven't ever seen them this bad.

here is one of the culprits inching his/her way along to join the others in total domination and destruction of all things green.

 

 if you stand under the great tree beside the garage and you are silent you can hear worm droppings falling from the sky, it sounds like rain falling on the leafs. droppings are every where, when i touch the driveway with my hand you can see the small droppings sticking to my hand. what we need is a good frost just not for  good for the plants, but will there be any plants left after the worms have their fill?

 here just a quick pick of our tomato plants i just replanted them  so they'll have some room to strectch there toes.

garden remodel..............

were doing a little garden remodeling science my wife started planting everything under the sun we now have a need for more space. chard, leeks, cuc's, sugar peas, cabbage, potatoes, and on and on. here i am breaking the ground with an ol school shovel.

for now this stump is a prop for ol Davey doo to practice his patent  pending ninja crane kick(as in pic enlarge if ya wish), but it soon will have to go. i don't envy the person who will have to dig it up....o yeah that's me. good times and blistery hands, of course another option is, to cut closer to the ground and planted around this year.

which way will it go george?.............

 so again I'm off to a little tree trimming.....which way do you think the tree will fall...... A-into the woods(fingers crossed), B-across the garden crushing the fence, C-on top of boat cimarron or D- on top of ol Davey doo?

well it looks like a success but don't count the firewood till its lies on the ground. into the woods she leans, but of course shes not on the ground yet.

still cutting......still leaning..........trying to get to fall safe and sound.

what the #@$%^ ..............well as i trimmed the trunk of the tree it stood its self right back up fell back and  on top of the ol cimarron. thank goodness i had already cut about 8feet of the trunk off or little ol cimarron would be heading to the dump. but cimarron just had a brush(get it) with death.

dadgum it sure looks like that ol tree is hung-up now. well while ol daddy Dave was working on expanding the garden he kind i got him self in a sticky situation(pine tree). while doing a little tree trimming. the tree in question decided it wanted to hang out with his buddies instead of taking the fall.

with just a little persuasion from Mr sledge and a little more cutting from Sir stihl. i am happy to report it final took the plunge.

the things ya see while house hunting..........

 well once again we were off on a house hunting adventure with sister #4 and her hubby. we stopped in a couple of the houses some were way outdated and some just interesting. here is a couple pics which were neat or just weird. the above pic is of a counter top stove. it has two sections that fold up when not in use, the pic shows one side folded down.

this pic was of a bathroom in which the toilet was on a pedestal in front of two large windows, and of course across the street, the neighbors in plain view. was probably raised to hide the plumbing, it looks as if the tub is raised also, interesting. i guess the neighbors can have a dinner and a show. sister # 4 is demonstrating a #2, what did she eat?

cinderella..........

 little Malia was playing Cinderella  at the rental house Friday. too bad she hasn't any wicked step sisters i guess she have to use her evil parents instead. we went out to put on a fresh coat of white paint and some elbow grease on some of the cleaning. we've had seven potential renters already and all we've done is put a sign in the window(good sign?). hopefully they will play out.

long way to go, but all the time ya need........

well i must say it looks like my last planting adventure was a disaster, but a new plant looms on the horizon. i relocated some ivy from the backyard(free 99) to the bottom of the new privacy/keep boys out fence. when or shall i say if it takes, it will soften the exterior of the fence and still be a weather hardy plant, offering even more privacy from crack peeking outsiders:)

de storm on lenmore.................

well all was quiet on the lenmore front, with no major damage to report except for a few fallen limbs and the front yard/corner light was blow over. it looks as if the bottom had been attacked by corrosion(rust) and all it took was a strong breeze to blow it over. well another project for another day.(maybe a new tool). here's a pic of Malia helping pick up some of the fallen limbs(playing). in the pic you can see the light post laying down on the job.

whenever i see these little flowers i always think of my big sis #2, and i know to keep a look out on the calender for her birthday even thought its in the later days of May. pic taken by that camera savvy wife of mine.

little Malia sometimes likes to sneak a foot or two up on the table . in this pic daddy was tickling one of those little tender roneys.

wifey cutting it up.........

just a pic of my old lady doing a little spring mantiance. yep its that time of year to get out the ol push mowers and weed eaters or just get a bunch of goats(but they'll eat everything so kids put your bikes up). after cutting the grass at home we then went to the rental. a good friend of mine came out and cleaned the carpets, and then up went the "for rent" signs(got two calls by the time we got home, they were from the same person though).

while out at the rental the kind neighbor lady told me to be sure and cut off the water when i leave( i always do just paranoid Dave), she said she saw the other neighbor grabbed his hose and hook it to the back of our house he was trying to wash his car!!!! what a prick. when he turned it on only drops came out lol. just nice for her to tell me, she didn't have to, i would have never known. people these days, just nice to know some people are  still good hearted. you can see the rent sign on the door.
