Carving....

Here we have a pic of some of the local concordians gathered for a pumpkin carving session. Here they are busy drawing out their chosen design upon the orange surface.

With some hot cider introduced, and in guts removed the carving began.....Malia is inspecting one of the pumpkin carvings.

And of course here we have our first pic of one of the artist creations, now it's up to you to guess the artist. The participants were Holly, Nate, Malia, Momma Mandy, and daddy Dave. Let the guessing begin, stay tuned, for another carving will post daily until they've all been viewed.

Tough mudder.......

Here we have a before pic of some of the Anderson clan that participated in a recent event called the "Tough Mudder". Tough Mudder events are hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. With the most innovative courses, half a million inspiring participants, and more than $3 million raised for the Wounded Warrior Project, Tough Mudder is the premier adventure challenge series in the world.

One of the first obsticals was a ice bath referred to as the "ice Emmna" here's a pic of daddy Dave and uncle joel fresh out of the cold water, notice the duck tape this was done to help prevent chaffing of the nipples. This tape disappeared some were along the course it's unknown where, this may have been for the better being now daddy Dave diddnt have to remove it.

Here's holly coming out of the ice bath, you have to go completely under water to get by an obstical placed inside.

And holly and Kia doing one of the many crawls...this one was bar wire and mud others had electrically charged wires dangling while you scooted on your stomach. Daddy Dave took his fair share of electro-shock therapy there.

A couple of pics of Anderson's defeating one of the last obsticals, it was a slippery half-pike which you had to run up and grab the top, help was greatly appreciated.

Uncle joel...

Aunt holly.....

One of the last obsticals was electrically charged, which you had to run through, here Holly makes quick work of it, uncle Joel got a good jolt but daddy Dave made it through un scathed.

And of course a after pic, the mud was well earned......we all had a blast.......look it up online for more info and videos of past events its truly tough.

Short cut.....

Being my first encounter with wall paper while renovating a rental I decided to just paint over it. Time being of the essence I thought this wouldn't look bad and would save time. Well I was wrong, when I tried to paint the wall paper started to bubble up. This looked like crap, of course I could have turned a blind eye and let it slide but that wouldn't be the cowboy way.

So after some research it was decided that the wallpaper had to come off no amount of sanding, filler or painting could fix this eyesore(which I tried all three). So it looks like all that was left to do was wet it and scrape so I picked up the handy dandy tool to aid in the penetration of the water. It scores the wallpaper allowing the water to soak in behind. I am happy to report that the removal went well and soon fresh paint will be on the wall minus the bubbles.

Progress....

Here's one of Malias last sketches, if you take a closer look you can see her latest development. Malia is now drawing smiley faces, she even put glasses on one. It's enjoyable to watch her grow and learn, time just goes by too fast.

Scratching post.......

Often while daddy Dave is relaxing, usually during the late evenings. Barkley tends to "back it on up" on Dave's outstretched feet, his fav spot is just above his tail. This self scratching technic usually results in a mound of hair(which momma mandy is never excited about). I guess a dogs got to do what a dogs got to do.

Pumpkin patch.....

Here's a couple pics of a recent trip to the pumpkin patch with aunt holly and uncle Nate, here Malia is warming up the seat on the ole tractor.

A stop by Wilber's place.....

And a pony just her size......

Ta-da.......atop the hay maze......

If she sits on it long enough what would hatch?....

And of course a pic of ole Ella posing with a friendly sunflower occupied with a not so friendly companion(bee).

Mimes on the loose......

Here's just a couple pics of some of the on going work on the latest rental. Here I a before pic of one of the ceilings in a back bedroom. Besides the horrible drywall job, it also has water damage, this needed to be addressed

After the leak was addressed, I decided to do a texture ceiling to aid in covering the terrible drywall job done by past workers. Texturing the ceiling would aid in time management which is a factor, to anyone who has done a smooth drywall ceiling knows that it is very time consuming to say the least.

So how did I apply texture, well I used the hands on approach which works very well and was discovered by accident. I was using a roller which was working but I wanted a deeper texture to help hide the mistakes.

Dinner for a cricket?.......

Ever wonder what crickets eat? Are they vegetarians? Vegans? Carnivores? I'm not sure to be frank with you but with the diet this cricket is eating its sure to leave a bad taste in his mouth. Ya see that stuff stuck in the cracks of Malias shoe is not mud, it's none other than something left behind by Barkley( need I say more?). Malias shoes have an attraction for barley droppings, or Malias shoes are like magnets drawing her toward these piles forcing her step in them. After some playtime in the yard theses shoes were left outside for cleaning, and it looks like a cricket decided to stop by for din or a just a closer look.

Artist...

Momma mandy picked up so water coloring materials the other day for Malia, she was excited and eager to create.

In no time at all she was busy creating a master piece, after a little "how to water paint" training she was off and fully engrossed.

Protection.......

Latly Malia has been putting various things on her head while she plays. Here she has been putting a strainer on her head, worn almost like a fencer. We do try to keep the knife/swords out of reach.

Here she stirs a strainer full of Legos with her face guard in proper position,......... on-guard. Of course she is not in proper fencing attire, being in potty training mode(no pants).

Here's a couple pics of some painted fencing masks I found on-line and thought were cool, imagine looking this in the face while trying to sword fight. They are completely see through the painting doesn't affect the sight of the wearer.
