Frame it.....

Here's were we began before tearing out the old drywall, cardboard and window screen.

The chaos removed and the bones(which there is not much of) showing its time to reframe out, and remove the old windows and make room for the new energy efficient double pane windows.

windows gone and framing begun....

Windows in and framing done, on to the next wall.

Laundry Reno walls......

Well it was time to open up the walls and see what we were working with. We plan on changing out the windows to some energy efficient, insulate the walls, square up the walls and drywall. Sounds simple right......well it would be...........but .wait for it......

If the walls were even framed to begin with..........what the $)&@ is this? After removing the old paper thin drywall I find out that there is no framing just a couple 2x4's to hold up the windows, a bunch of card board, metal screening, and scrap wood nailed up like pick up sticks with no rhyme or reason. Was the cardboard insulation?

After the cardboard was removed there was window screen all over the walls? You would think maybe it was a screened in porch at some time but this was not the case.

More sections of screening in no certain order just under the window in this pic .......

I had to build a makeshift rack to hold the existing plumbing and electrical sense there was no framing there to hold it up it was tacked into the drywall. Looks like daddy Dave has his work cut out for him.

The beginning .....

Here we have a pic of the laundry room which has now been put on the front burner. The objective is to redo everything from walls to floor to roof. Including wiring, plumbing, framing, tile, drywall, etc the whole nine yards. Let the good times roll it looks to be an eventful project.

First up is to make the most out of what pace there is, in the past daddy Dave built an enclosure to hold their enormous ancient tv. This tv has sense but put out to pasture and a newer flat screen has sense taken its place. The extra space could be utilized in the laundry room, laundry room motto "let no space go unused".

The excess overhang has been taken off, now to frame it out......

And close it up.......stay tuned for more laundry room renovations.

Flat free since 93........

It had come time to replace the front tires on my 34" Gravely walk behind mower. Daddy Dave uses this mower when he has to get through those small back gates. It is a beast and sometimes acts as a bush hog, I do have a couple clients who let their yard get too high, and this machine cuts like butter.

One day while doing maintance on the mowers daddy Dave overfilled one of the front tires causing it too blow, daddy Dave preformed a temporary fix but it was time to repair before the tire came completely off. Here you can see the tire threads.

Daddy Dave pick up some flat free tires at a local supply store which were the same size but under closer inspection the Diameter of the axel on the mower was larger. After some cursing daddy Dave realized an easy fix, the enclosed bearings were interchangeable. After working them loose with a screwdriver they were replaced with the right size bearings from the older tires.

The new tires were then put back on with a little extra grease and help from an air gun to make sure they were nice and snug. Lets go cut some grass

Rental works.......

The other day I was out working on a rental, the tenants had called with a concern about a leak, after addressing this issue it was time to hang some gutters. Because there are no gutters on the front when it rains the water pours down onto the porch.

After the nessary supplies were bought the gutter assembly was started on the ground.

Success........here's an after pic with new gutters and down spouts installed. I'm sure they will be tested in no time with all the rain we've been having. This was duplicated on the other side of the porch.

Also new outdoor spigot was installed replacing a broken one.

Roller skates.......

The other morning Malia decided to get herself dressed.......she chose a bathing suit and bright socks which she called her roller skates. She would run around and slide across the floor. When momma Mand got home she immediately asked if her dad had gotten her dressed......for shame daddy Dave would have at least put on some gloves too.

Back that thang up ..........

Here is the current position of daddy Dave's trailer hitch.....it looks normal because this is how it's suppose to be, but this causes some problems.

Every time daddy Dave goes up and down the driveway the ball on the trailer hitch scrapes pretty hard so hard in fact it has ground the nut on the hitch down. How can this be solved? Well after cruising the Internet looking for some sort of fancy gadget to aid with this problem he stumbled across a simple solution.

Want to stop your hitch from scraping, Just turn the hitch upside down and mount the ball on top.......tada. Above you can see the old position and the new current one.

In this pic you can see just how close the hitch still comes to the ground, but no scraping. A simple flipping of the hitch allows the extra needed height.

Portrait....

Malia was drawing at the table the other day and momma Mandy asked her who she was drawing? She said it was her daddy. Looks like daddy Dave has a black eye and some chicken legs.

She then drew a picture of her momma and daddy, I think daddy Dave is the one smiling.
