Big helper..

This morning Malia was helping Momma Mandy fold some laundry..

If she turns around you may guess that she dressed herself this morning, via the backwards pants(drawstring in the back).

Calm before the storm...

The other night momma Mandy and daddy Dave treated the girls to some ice cream cones. This was Ella's first very own ice cream cone. She handled it very well.

You can see the sugar rush beginning ......look at those eyes.

Egg hunt.......

Sunday evening momma Mandy was busy playing Easter bunny, here you can see just some of the hidden eggs .

A few of the eggs were strategically placed so that Ella could participate.

The girls were off, no "mark get set go" or gun shot was needed. Malia was off snatching up all the easy finds(Ella's) she had a basket full before momma Mandy or daddy Dave stop her and explain. Although explaining didn't make much differance, a find is a find, finders keepers losers weepers. Ella was successful also but her basket wasn't as bountifully as Malias.

Here Malia shows of her stash.

And of course a pic with the Easter rabbit(momma Mandy), the girls weren't very intrested in the camera just the treats inside the eggs.

Pit bull attack.......

The title says it all daddy was attacked by a pit bull.........but I'll get to that in a min. Daddy Dave had a couple things he needed to do to a property in order to bring it up to a certain government code. Anything with three or more steps needs to have a hand rail, this property was one step too many so daddy Dave needed to install a hand rail.

After wieghing the different hand rail options daddy Dave decided to just build one out of treated wood and concrete. Here the holes were dug and post set, leveled and ready for the railing.

This final pic is with the installed hand railing and "quick Crete " poured and waiting to harden. Now back to the whole "pit bull" thing. You say it must not have been anything major because no one in the family got a call, well truth be told it was a little embarrassing. Right as daddy Dave finished up the hand rail and had allready packed up his tools and trailer he was suddenly caught off guard. Out of no where something slammed into his leg, almost knocking him down. As daddy Dave looked down he saw this pit bull at his feet, instinctively daddy Dave reached for his peice(gat, iron, 380 etc) but it was quickly decieded it was not needed being a wagging nub was visible. It was a young pit and actually the current tenets pet which is usually hooked up out back but today it seems as if he had other plans and was rampaging around the neighborhood.

After realizing the pooch was no threat it then became apparent what he was doing......trying to show his dominance .......aka humping my leg. This dang dog wouldn't leave me alone, he followed me everywhere....around the house(humping my leg).......back to the truck(humping my leg).......back to the house (humping my leg)......I bet everyone in the whole neighborhood could see this pit bull sexual assaulting me, but I'm not quite sure if it would stick in court. It got on my nerves real quick but something kept me from giving that dog a corrective motion(smack, hit, kick) probably the fact it was a pit and some else's dog (but more so the fact it was a pit), and I didn't feel like digging a hole in the backyard in addition to haveing to clean my gun after it was fired. He was just a pup and didn't know better, I guess I'll take a good humping over a bite any day. The dog was so thirsty from all his humping he started drinking the water mixed with "quick Crete" as in the pic above. I hope he calls me after all the intimate time we spent to gether, but he's probably a DOG.

You know you have kids when....

Well the start of grass season has kicked in and has kept daddy Dave pretty busy, not complaing just thankful to be blessed with busyness. Inbetween landscaping, rentals and his regular job there just doesn't seem like much time for relaxing. Often after a late, long day of work daddy Dave finds himself using a cleaning aptratus, know to some by the name of the "shower". In this particular session while enjoying the hot water daddy Dave wipes the soap from his eyes and looks down only to find this Disney character(little mermaid) staring up at daddy Dave in all his glory(birthday suit). Now I know it's just a Doll but it was a little uncomfortable. When you have kids you just never know what is around the corner or in the shower.

Double lever toilet.......

While out doing some maintance on a rental property daddy Dave came across this double lever toliet. It seems the current lever failed so the tenets rigged up this second lever In order to still get some use out ofthe toliet.

An inside look at the mechanics.....

Daddy Dave had enought problems from this particular toilet so it was decieded to replace it. When he went to remove the bolts they were rusted, not only the floor bolts but the tank bolts were also badly corroded so what did daddy Dave do?........

Hammer?........a little drastic but daddy Dave didn't have any use for the tank or bowl so it was removed demolition style. A new toliet was installed easy enough so the tenets didn't go long with out a porcelain stool.

Hair ball........

Daddy Dave was doing some maintance on one of his rentals when he was clearing a slow draining bath tub he was met with this rather long hair ball. This isn't a hair ball your cat coughs up unless you have a long haired tiger. After the removal of the hair ball the the tub was back in business. Little known tip if you try to clear a drain on your tub don't start at the drain, open the diverter lever/air access located on the back of the tub and insert the plumbing snake there, this avoids some unnecessary twist and turns allowing you to deal with the hairy situation.

Heavy duty?......

To aid in moving around daddy Dave's work trailers and saving his back, he bought a trailer dolly. The turn around space in daddy Dave's back yard is limited and time consuming trying to maneuver with the truck still attached, so he hoped that this would help.

The idea was a good idea but the store bought dolly just wasn't up to par to handle the work load. After a couple failed attempts the trailer did end up in the right spot but not with out aggravations.

Here's what we are left with a mangled store bought dolly, daddy Dave has plans to build is own with all the bells and whistles........or just the bells no whistles.

Learning rentals 101.......

At a past date daddy Dave had a stove go out on one of his property's and of course daddy Dave had a spare on had. So after loading up the replacement stove and arriving to the property only to find our stove(now broke) in this condition. Nasty to say the least the pics don't do it justice, it's like when they cooked, it over boiled but instead of cleaning up the just left it and let it build.....

And build......

And build......down the front and into the bottom drawer. Do you think they would have let it get this bad if it was their own appliance? I think not. If the stove was a simple fix burner, coil etc daddy Dave would have tried to clean and keep it as a back up but since the problem is unknown daddy Dave decided it would get scraped. Lesson learned........Now daddy Dave lets the tenets provide their own appliances unless other wise arranged( higher rent).

Run but don't breath......

Momma Mandy, aunt Holly and Woody and some of Mandy's friends signed up for a 5k it was a color run. In this 5k they throw color at you.......hmmm daddy Dave was not so kine on the idea so he hung back and took care of the girls. Above is a pre pic before color was involved, the group wore some tutus and decorated white tank tops.

Here a little pre color was thrown.

And another color dispersed....

Here's the start, I think uncle Joel would out run this golf cart though.

And the start was met with a green dusting......

Here the girls go by...

The crowd on the way back...

Here's one of the color stations, daddy Dave was curious about the ingrentants of the dust it was just cornstarch and food coloring.

Here's momma Mandy finishing up strong.....

Here's all the girls enjoying a little music and some more color, daddy Dave prefers his runs color free or at least not dispersed into the air as he is running by, but the girls had fun.

Fire....

With rain in the forcast it was a great night to burn the scrap pile, it started small

But soon was a monster daddy Dave kept the hose on hand to aid in keeping the fire under control and keep the cops/ firemen from getting called(it's illegal to burn outdoors in city limits) this is why when daddy Dave burns he usually dose it under the cover of darkness to hid the smoke and usually with rain in the forecast.

The next day Ella helps daddy Dave extinguish the left over smoldering coals(daddy Dave was in short shorts because he had just finished a run not because he wears them around the house regularly).

With some clean up under way there was space enough to fit that trailer in the garage.....success.
