Keep out!.....

Often while out working on clients landscape projects they sometimes request me to do other odd jobs. For example one wanted me to burie her 2 dead frozen farrets and while I was performing the task at hand she teary eyed told me the ever lasting love storie of which the farets shared. Another wants me to rebuild a set of handrails, and of course the usal trimming, planting and removal but often I get asked to remove bird nest from exterior vents. With man moving into nature, nature adapts and learns to live with people but humans don't often take sharing the habitat so easily. So having done this before I decided to snap a couple picks of the process. This is a very cheap cost effective way to keep birds out of your exhaust vents. First I cut a square of wire window screen the same size as cover which pops over the exhaust vent.

Its as simple as holding the screen in place and poping on the cover, in this case it was done two stories off the ground at the top of a ladder so be careful if your in a tricky location.

Then you just take the existing vent flaps and poke them through the wire into place. This is not suggested for dryer vents being they produce a lot of lent which will clog the fine screen, but for bathroom vents and kitchen vents it should work fine. Another tip is not to use the plastic window screen because this won't stop the birds not even slow them down they just poke right through. If the birds have made nest and there is baby birds, it us advised to wait untill they leave the nest. 4weeks is a normal rearing time for birds before they leave the nest.
