Grease packing hub....

daddy Dave and his ladies were making a road trip to return grandpa Anderson's log splitter. But this would involve a rather high speed trip down a local highway. This splitter hasn't seen much highway so daddy Dave wanted to make sure the wheel bearings were well lubicated. Above daddy Dave lifted a wheel using a bit of leverage and a concrete block.

With the bearing cover removed you can see the cotter pin.....already straightened and ready to remove.

Once the cotter pin was removed and the bolt loosened the bearings come out with ease.

After re packing the hub and bearings with grease the bolt is threaded back on

And the cotter pin back in place and secured.

The hub cover tapped back into place, now repeat on the other wheel.

With both bearing re packed we are ready to hit the pavement. The trip was a success and smooth sailing was achieved.
